What We Do

Technology Counsel Foundation or TECOF is a community of professionals that was launched in 2023. An IIT Kharagpur alumni initiative, TECOF is formed as a non-profit organization to help shape laws and policies towards the movement of the technologies by bringing together technologists, lawyers and policymakers.

Government enablement. Technology would be India’s propellant towards becoming the 4th largest economy of the world. A correct regulatory environment can become the bedrock for the acceleration of generation, adoption and assimilation of technology in India. TECOF was formed to bring together professionals from various walks of the technology and legal ecosystems, understand the challenges and support the central and state governments on one side and Technology developers on the other side with the understanding of the Laws as well as bringing correct recommendations to shape the Laws suitably.

Societal intervention. Further, Technology affects every strata of Indian society. However, considering the complexity of the Laws, cost of the compliance, even though protective Laws as well as tools may be present, it may not be sufficiently spread or dispersed to protect the large part of the society. TECOF is formed to take these challenges head on, and form the right intervention at an easy to consume as well as not be cost prohibitive.

Community building. TECOF brings together all the stakeholders in various platforms such as conferences, workshops, mentorship programs to continue dialogues on the Technology and Law topics that matter for India

TECOF works with various stakeholders in Academic institutions, Mental Health organizations, Law firms to design the interventions and research outcomes.
