The Technology Counsel Foundation Grant for Technology Law Research

The Technology Counsel Foundation (TECOF) is pleased to announce the establishment of "The Technology Counsel Foundation Grant for Technology Law Research" at the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSOIPL), Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. This grant aims to support students with ambitious research endeavors in the interdisciplinary field of technology law.

About the Grant

The grant is designed to foster a vibrant community of professionals active at the intersection of technology and law. This initiative not only nurtures talent within the institution but also contributes to the broader discourse on pertinent technological legal issues.

Grant Award Details The grant includes:
Monetary Award An annual monetary award of INR 100,000.00 to support research-related expenses, stipend, and domestic travel for academic engagements.
Developmental Activities Inclusion in TECOF’s developmental activities and structured mentorship from established professionals within the foundation.
Funding Administration Funding will be administered through the institution in proportional tranches each trimester.
Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for the grant, applicants must meet the following criteria
  • Academic Requirements: Newly admitted or current students at RGSOIPL with a robust academic record (minimum 7.5 DGPA or 70% aggregate) in their preceding degree program.
  • Program Eligibility: Open to candidates from both LL.B. and LL.M. programs.
  • Interest and Commitment: Demonstrated interest in technology-related legal studies and commitment to contributing research assistance to ongoing TECOF projects during non-academic hours.
Application Process Interested candidates are required to submit the followings
Filled up application form.
Comprehensive Research Proposal Aligning with the research themes specified annually by TECOF.
Statement of Purpose (SOP) Detailing the candidate’s academic background, research interests, and career aspirations (1000 words maximum).
Video Essay A short video essay explaining the candidate’s motivation, research interests, and how they plan to contribute to the field of technology law (8-10 minutes).
Submission Deadline

All applications must be submitted within 15 days of the commencement of the odd semesters. Late submissions will not be considered.

Evaluation Process
Initial Screening: The TECOF selection panel will review all submitted proposals, statements of purpose and video essays.
Shortlisting: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a presentation and an interview.
Final Selection: Selection criteria will focus on the innovative nature and potential impact of the research proposal, academic merit, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and other factors.
